Live al fresco this summer
If you have a porch to the former, a piece of wood or grass cover, a poolside patio or a balcony a high-rise apartment, you have the basic requirements for a summer al fresco (outdoor) living.
The blame our long winters cold, but at the first sign that warm weather is here, Canadians are quick to move – beds, chairs, tables … including fully equipped kitchens – Outdoors. Take time to plan your outdoor space this summer – and you find that you are spending more time – and better weather – enjoying the season short summer.
First, take a look at what you have, and consider when and how to spend your time outdoors. If you are working away from home roughly every day, pay close attention to how your outdoor space can be used for morning breakfast and dinner and relaxing. It has a crew of children enjoying a summer at home? Remember that you need to meet their needs during the hottest hours of the day. At a minimum, you want to) a place to share an outdoor meal, and b) a comfortable place to relax.
Planning for comfort on hot days, consider how you will get shadow. If you are lucky to have a mature tree or two, be sure to take advantage of shade you have at your disposal. It's not just the shade that cools, a tree mature cold attracts moisture from the depths of the earth and which expires in the surrounding air. If you have no natural shade, you have to find – under a covered porch or pergola, for example – or create some – with an umbrella, or some sort of cover.
To live outdoors at night, you will need to reflect on some lighting soft so you can enjoy your evening under the stars. This can be as simple or elaborate as you like: Chinese lanterns, lanterns, chandeliers hanging from a branch, or just a row of tealights in jam jars. For any complaint, all summer lighting, curtain wire electric colored lights in trees or near doors and turn the switch on a timer. Every night, these lights will be an open invitation to head outdoors. And do not let the mosquitoes drive you indoors. If you do not have an enclosed porch, then to use citronella candles – generously placed around your living space just before dusk.
meals outdoor life are part of the summer. Even a morning coffee tastes better outdoors. So do not be limited to the standard "burgers on the barbie", plan Meals weekend and some dinners with candles. To make it easy to prepare and enjoy your meal, set up your living space outdoors with an extra side table maintain dishes, cutlery and serving dishes over. The same space could function as a beverage bar. Finding a good container – like a large galvanized tub – to fill with ice and drinks. If you do not have a chafing dish, start looking for one, they are great for keeping your dishes warm when outdoor dining. To maximize your enjoyment of your summer space, go beyond the basics and decorate your living room outdoors as you would any other room in the house: a decision on an issue, choose colors, consider accessories. You do not need have the standard patio furniture. Walk around your house and garden to take stock of what you have to work. A couple of chairs and a tired kitchen table of his old days student? Setting up your outdoor space is like adding an extension to the house, but adds a new dimension to your lifestyle, and a new opportunity together to enjoy your home. There is a reason why, in our favorite restaurants, the patio tables are always filled first – especially at night. We love living outdoors. With a little planning, this summer, you can live al fresco … every day at home.
