2008 Investment Policy: What's (left) in your wallet?
The parade of promises is marching down Main Street. For many months to come, politicians of all kinds, parties and ideologies are courting our votes … they have the cure for all that is evil in the world, we are told. In retrospect crystal, each candidate criticized the decisions of every incumbent, from the City Council of Podunk to the presidency itself. You've heard it all before, but never changes. But we all know that little will be achieved. Ten years from now, we're going to complain that the same things that bothered us ten years ago! But listen (and sometimes even I think) the same garbage, campaign after campaign. Are not you tired of this cycle of frustration? If you thought you could make a difference, would you try?
As investors, we represent the single biggest block of voters in the country. The vote 250 million (+ or -) Americans age,% not less than 75 have some form of portfolio investment plus interest by the illusory Social Security Trust Fund. Investors have the right to elect the next president, change the tax code, fix Social Security, and strengthen the economy. We have the power to produce significant changes in our society, but we have to start sending the right message to politicians … collectively, constructively, and quickly. In this rapidly "flattening" the world, our leaders (both parties) are unwittingly making us less competitive globally, more protectionist at home, and less attractive for investment foreign than ever. No wonder that we export more rhetoric than us goods and services …
Besides being Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, independent, etc, why not compromise our loyalty to the multi-partisan "MT ~ BSW" Supra-Party. This party (hypothetical) policy could well become the first choice of most investors, regardless of size of the portfolio. Investors must respond in one voice to the political nonsense endless with a resounding "Money Talks, BS Walks". We are tired of trite promises, and circus clown show. As investors, we want less government, not abuse, and less regulation. We want decision makers who design laws that aid economic freedoms, not lawmakers who make decisions that restricted. Holder hit is not a political platform and is not charging the pockets of the most productive members of society. We want a change of attitude and we will dismiss those who do not appreciate the problem. The MT ~ BSW Party can rebuild a productive government, and without naming our own representatives.
The writing is on the walls of Congress and telling us we have to replace old school power politicians with a new generation of decision-making managers who can lead us back to the creative space in the global economy they once dominated. Here's the MT ~ BSW "Financial Plan" for the 2008 elections … Connectors Wanted item:
The first step is to get politicians from politics. Leave rookies "just in case you still have the ability to think for themselves. But whatever you can to get rid of any person to two terms in any elected position, anywhere, regardless of name or affiliation policy. If you have been in power so long, and social security payments remain passive, who do not share our agenda. Then, absolutely not vote for any new person who has not delivered a brief (300 words or less) (personally written and delivered under some form of oath) (in adult English without legalese) statement position on each of the following list of ten themes that we as investors consider of utmost importance if we (the U.S. of A) to continue as the force world's most powerful economy.
The MT ~ BSW Party demands reform, change and improvement in government attitudes toward investors. We will not support any candidate, regardless of party affiliation, who are not committed to work towards a return to a government that supports the principles of capitalism, and productivity awards, ingenuity and creativity, both as respects the needs of the sick, the poor and the environment. In short (but will be expanded in future articles):
1. Investment Income: Abolish the taxation of all forms of investment income at all levels, federal, state or local. This includes all rents, royalties, interest, dividends, capital gains, etc. Similarly, abolish taxes of any form of retirement income … independently of the source.
2. Corporate Income Tax: Eliminate the corporate income tax … and observe the increase in employment and employee compensation that follows.
3. Social Security Reform: Take Social Security out of the Public Sector and replaced by a mandatory, Deferred, Fixed Income program in private sector, financed by a 2% premium or fewer employees. Absolutely not allow access to these accounts retirement annuity before retirement.
4. Tort Reform: Tort Law Reform at all levels, and protect both businesses and individuals from frivolous lawsuits. Adopt a standard of personal responsibility for their own stupidity ignorance and clumsiness.
5. Estate & Gift Taxes: Eliminate Estate and Gift Taxes at all levels. Find a way to reward charitable contributions through government matching payments by 25%.
6. Government Regulation: Examine the destructive economic impact of government regulation and supervision in many industries, especially small business professionals in the fields of personal services. Provide an arbitration and review system to identify and control abuse of regulatory power and a Department in each agency to address small business entities.
7. Obscene Executive Compensation: Guidelines Adopt Amount and tax rules that will control abusive Corporate Executive levels of compensation and to include all forms of compensation are not available proportionately all employees and / or shareholders.
8. Federal Income Tax Reform: Revise, rewrite, and actually simplify the Internal Revenue Code, from of a maximum 25% rate on income, a general non-specific single deduction and no subsection of more than two sentences or more than two levels of the subsections.
9. Size of Government: reducing government at all levels of staff in at least 10% per year over the next three to five years.
10. Individual Retirement Plans: Combine all forms of employee volunteers and personal retirement programs in an IRA with tax deductible contributions up to a limit $ 5,000 per year per person (employed or not).
Of course there can be no more than ten planks of the platform of Investors MT ~ BSW, but we to have a good time with them. Maybe some of you seriously realistic and actually make change happen. I welcome your contributions to later articles, and their efforts to spread the "manifesto of investors however you can.
